A must see place, the Viking Ship Museum is located at Bygdøy in Oslo, Norway. It is part of the Museum of Cultural History of the University of Oslo, and houses archaeological finds from Tune, Gokstad, Oseberg and the Borre mound cemetery

The Oseberg Ship
O barco Oseberg foi encontrado em um túmulo, na fazenda Oseberg em 1903. Ele foi construída por volta de 820d.C. e , depois de seu uso regular, serviu como tumba para duas mulheres importantes no anos de 834. Seus corpos estavam numa câmara no centro do barco, juntamente com ricos objetos típicos para enterro.
According to information at the Museum, the Oseberg Ship was found in a large burial mound at the Oseberg farm in 1903. The ship was built around AD 820 and after been used for a number of years, it served as a grave ship for two prominent women in AD834. Their bodies were placed in a burial chamber in the centre of the ship, along with a rich assortment of grave goods.

The Gokstad Ship
O Barco Gokstad foi construído por volta de 890 d.C, feito de carvalho , funcionava com remos (16 em cada lado) e a vela. Foi encontrado na fazenda Gokstad em 1879, por duas crianças, filhos do fazendeiro que brincavam de escavar um monte.
The Gokstad ship was built around 890A.D, made of oak, it could be sailed as well as rowed, as it can be seen each side of the ship there are 16 oar holes, It was discovered in 1879 at Gokstad farm by the two young sons of the farmer who were bored and decided to dig a mound.

The Tune Ship
O barco Tune foi o primeiro dos barcos a ser descoberto, no ano de 1868 na fazenda de Nedre Haugen, na ilha de Rolvsøy. Foi construído por volta de 910 D.C e provavelmente tinha 12 remos em cada lado. Como o local já havia sido escavado anteriormente, o oxigênio que entrou no sítio fez com que o barco se decompusesse mais do que os outros dois.
The Tune ship , the first of the ships to be discovered back in the year 1868, on the farm of Nedre Haugen on the island of Rolvsøy. It was built circa 910 AD and probably had 12 oar holes in each side. Because its burial mound had been opened and partly excavated previously, the oxygen introduced in the mould was instrumental was instrumental in the decomposing of the ship.
