Fim de semana em Montevideo é sempre um prazer. Uma hora de voo e já estamos na charmosa e sempre acolhedora capital do Uruguai. Desta vez, ficamos em Carrasco, cerca de 20km do centro histórico de Montevideo. Mas é só alugar um carro e tudo fica perto e conveniente.

Because we live in the south of Brazil and we share our history with Uruguay, it is easier and closer to visit Montevideo than traveling to other more northern states of Brazil.  Just one-hour flight and we are in this beautiful , charming and friendly capital of Uruguay.

Rent a car and you can be in different parts of the city within minutes, from the city centre to Pocitos , Buceo, Punta Carretas and Carrasco.

Palacio Salvo

A cidade se desenvolve a partir da Plaza de la Independencia,  lugar de uma antiga cidadela espanhola.  Edifícios em art déco, casas coloniais e o Palácio Salvo, edifício de 27 andares inaugurado em 1928, por muito tempo o edifício mais alto da América do sul.  Em estilo neoclássico vemos o Teatro Solís e, mais adiante, chegamos no Mercado del Puerto, onde se pode comer a famosa Parilla uruguaia.

From Plaza de la Independencia,  once home to a Spanish citadel,we can walk through  Ciudad Vieja (the old town), with art deco buildings, colonial homes and landmarks including the towering Palacio Salvo, built in 1928 with 27 stores, once the tallest building in South America,  and neoclassical performance hall Solís Theatre. Mercado del Puerto is an old port market filled with many steakhouses.
