A Aurora Boreal (assim como a Austral) resulta da colisão de partículas gasosas com partículas do vento solar, por volta de 60 -100km acima da atmosfera terrestre. A variação de sua cor , de um verde amarelado a vermelho e azul depende do tipo de partículas gasosas que colidem.
Na mitologia nórdica, a aurora estava conectada à guerra. Acreditava-se que as luzes apareciam, quando os raios de sol refletiam os escudos das Valquírias cruzando os céus para chegarem a seu lugar de descanso Valhalla.
Os Samis consideravam as luzes o reflexo das almas de seus entes queridos.
Mitologia ou Ciência não importam para um observador comum. O show de luzes da Aurora são de uma beleza extraordinária. E isto basta, se você tiver a sorte de observá-la.

The Northern Lights are the result of collisions between gaseous particles in the Earth's atmosphere with charged particles released from the sun's atmosphere. Variations in colour are due to the type of gas particles that are colliding.
Norse mythology connected the aurora borealis with war. It was believed that the lights appeared when sunlight reflected on the shiny shields of the Valkyries who were racing across the sky on the way to their resting place, Valhalla. And the Sami believed that the lights were souls of the departed.
Mythology or Science do not matter when you have the chance to see the lights. No explanations are needed when you have the chance of seeing them.

In our first night, just faint lights were visible .
Mas no segundo dia, ela apareceu de maneira espetacular.
But in the second night, it appeared in a spectacular way.
