Outra cidade pequena próxima de Barcelona, com uma história milenar, é Vic - capital da Comarca de Osona. Uma vila já no século 4 a.C. , foi chamada de Auso, ponto central da tribo ibérica dos Ausetanos. Com a dominação romana, passou-se a chamar de Ausa e se tornou uma cidade tributária. Posteriormente com os Visigodos , recebeu o nome de Ausona.
A origem do nome Vic vem da sua reconstrução em 788, depois de ter sido destruída por uma incursão muçulmana. Foi chamada de Vicus Ausenius (bairro em latim) , e sua repopulação plena se deu em 878, quando Wilfred the Hairy tomou controle da parte mais alta da cidade.
Estas são apenas algumas informações sobre uma cidade charmosa de 43.000 habitantes, com vários museus, universidade, orquestra sinfônica, teatro, com muita história para contar.

Another small but full of history place to visit in Catalonia is Vic, whose origins date back the 4 century B.C. First a place of the Iberian tribe Ausetanes, it was called Auso. Later, it was called Ausa by the Romans, and the Visigoths called it Ausona. It was destroyed in 788 during a Muslim incursion. Afterwards only one quarter was rebuilt, which was called Vicus Ausonensis (vicus is Latin for city borough), from which the name Vic was derived. It was repopulated by Wilfred the Hairy in 878 who gained control over the high part of the city and gave up the lowest part to the bishop to construct the episcopal see. From then on, the city was ruled by the count of Barcelona and by the bishop of Vic.
These are just a few information about this charming city of no more than 43,000 inhabitants, with beautiful museums, theater, University, a Roman Temple immersed in history.
