Saint-Germain-en-Laye

If you want to visit some place near Paris, go to Saint-German-en Laye, birth city of King Louis XIV and Claude Debussy, just 25 minutes by RER (train).
It is worth visiting the Château de Saint-Germain-en Laye (Castle) , former residence of the Kings of France but in the 14th century, where many peace treaties and royal edicts took place. Nowadays, it houses the National Archeological Museum which has exhibits ranging from Palaeolithic to celtic times.
The Saint-Louis chapel, adjoined to the château is also worth visiting. It is a masterpiece of classic gothic architecture. "Through its designs and architecture, it is the foreshadow of the grand Sainte- Chapelle, which Saint Louis would later build within the walls of the Palais de la Cité in Paris. http://www.france.fr/en/museums/chateau-de-saint-germain-en-laye-national-museum-archaeology.html
