A place to visit in London, among many others is Churchill's Cabinet War Rooms, the Bunker where,during the Second World War, a group of basement offices in Whitehall served as the centre of Britain’s war effort. The complex was occupied by leading government ministers, military strategists and Prime Minister Winston Churchill. The Cabinet War Rooms functioned 24/7 from 27 August 1939, one week before Britain declared War on Germany and closed in 16 August 1945, when the lights of the Map Room were off for the first time in 6 years.
