National Gallery London - again


Sempre voltamos à National Gallery, pois há muito que se ver e admirar. Nesta postagem, iniciamos pelos mosaicos da entrada da Galeria e nos atemos a um dos grandes pintores da história : Rembrandt (1606-1669)


National Gallery of London is a never-ending source of posts. Today, we just focus on two different aspects of it: the mosaic pavements in the Gallery Portico and Rembrandt , one of the most important painters of all.








Os mosaicos do chão da National Gallery foram criados pelo russo de nascimento  Boris Anrep e componente do Grupo Bloomsbery (do qual também faziam parte Virginia Woolf, Maynard Keynes, E.M. Forster entre outros) . Os primeiros foram criados entre 1920 e 1930 , retratando os prazeres e os trabalhos da vida, e mais tarde (1950) foram adicionados as virtudes modernas.


The mosaic pavements were created by Russian-born  Boris Anrep, member of the Bloomsbury Group ( of which included Virginia Woolf, Maynard Keynes, E.M.Forster among others)  . The first mosaics were created in the 1920s and 1930s and represented the "Pleasures and Labours of Life". Later, in the 1950s, "The Modern Virtues"were created.
